Autumn & Book Tags – two of my favorite things right now. I picked this Book Tag up over at Kristen Kraves Books where she made a fantastic autumnal post that got me feeling all cozy and ready for fall. Check her page out, it’s pretty awesome.
The original book tag belongs to The Book Belle.
I’m ready for sweater weather, rain boots, scarves, and flannel shirts. It’s been really nice here in the Pacific Northwest so I have to pretend it’s autumn right now. I don’t think we’ve had a rainy day since May but my rain boots have been dug out of storage and are standing by for action should the weather start to change. It hasn’t been very cold out either, in fact, just this weekend I sat on the balcony with a blanket to study and work on blogging a bit – it wasn’t even 8am yet!
Anyways, I love book tags so I’m glad I get to share this awesome one with you in the form of answering 10 questions. Here we go!
1. What book always reminds you of fall/autumn?

The story of the first book in the in the All Souls Series takes place during September and October. I love the seasonal references found in A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness.
2. What is your favorite autumnal book cover?

I have a love-hate relationship with The Kingkiller Chronicles. It’s a fantastic story and Patrick Rothfuss is a brilliant writer, but I don’t like the way I feel when reading his books. I’m constantly anxious about what tragedy will next happen to his poor protagonist. I have the same kind of relationship with George RR Martin… Anyways, the 10th Anniversary edition of The Name of the Wind had a great autumnal cover.
3. What is your favorite autumnal drink to read with?

I love tea. It’s easily one of my top 3 favorite drinks of all time. Once the weather turns chilly and the leaves start to drop, I’m putting the kettle on and brewing up a nice cuppa. This year’s seasonal favorite is Pumpkin Earl Grey by David’s Tea.
4. Do you prefer to read late at night or early in the morning?

I’m a big fan of reading before bedtime so you can usually find me propped up late at night feeling cozy. I recently bought a bunch of wax battery operated flickering candles and put them up on the book shelves lining the walls of my bedroom. Let me tell you – it is so cozy and relaxing to read with them on!
5. Halloween is coming! What is your favorite spooky read?

Of the books I most recently read, The Shining spooked me out a little more than I thought it would. I was scared of opening my shower curtain for at least 3 days.
6. What is the ultimate comfort read for you?

It’s a series I find myself going back to time and time again. I just love the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris. It’s wonderful to read but also amazing to listen to. It’s narrated by Johanna Parker who just nails the southern gal voice.
7. What is your favorite autumnal reading snack?

Autumn is apple season and nothing goes better with apples than caramel dip. I’m a big, big fan of the tart with sweet combination. Store bought caramel dip can be sketchy though, so I’ll share the recipe that I use to make the most delicious, limited-ingredient caramel dip the internet has to offer. Visit Jami at An Oregon Cottage to find her 4-Ingredient Homemade Caramel Apple Dip recipe!
8. What is your favorite autumnal candle to burn whilst reading?

My favorite little candle maker is Frostbeard Studio. They make soy candles for book lovers. For the Autumn season I pick up Spooky Stories which smells like Dry Leaves – Campire – Cocoa. It’s perfectly cozy. Check out their website for other scents.
9. When you’re not reading, what is your favorite autumnal activity?

I really enjoy going on long walks during fall days when everything is changing colors and the air is crisp. If I need to wear a hoodie to go for a stroll then it’s the perfect time to be out. I enjoy listening to audiobooks while on my adventures and taking a travel mug of warm beverage with me. I like coffee, tea, and hot chocolate (bonus if it has a bit of whiskey or Irish cream in it!).
10. What is on your autumn/fall reading list?
