Kristin @ Kristin Kraves Books is hosting an End of the Year Book Tag! According to Kristin “It is a great way to reflect on your reading so far and to get a clearer picture of the goals you have set for the rest of the year.” Since we love book tags here, and this one looks fun, let’s get started!
Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?

I started Ghost Story earlier in the year but ended up putting it down almost immediately for a reason I cannot really remember. I suspect a new release caught my attention and I just forgot to go back. I am resolved to get this one done by December 31st! The story so far has been great, if not different than what we expect from a Dresden story but so far Butters has made an appearance and there’s been some interesting and realistic developments for Molly which are keeping my attention!
Do you have an autumnal book to transition into the end of the year?

While the Harry Potter books span a whole school year, I find that they have a very autumnal feel in particular due to the beginning taking place in the fall when they return to class. It’s a warm, cozy feeling to settle back into the magical world and watch the story unfold as the season flows by. Goblet of Fire is my favorite in the series so this will be a great transitional book from Autumn (when the students return to school) into Winter (when the Yule Ball takes place).
Is there a new release you’re still waiting for?

Definitely!! I made a blog post about it, which you can find here.
What are three books you want to read before the end of the year?

I would say that these are my “Big 3” (besides Ghost Story…). None of them are super long so I should be able to crush each out in a weekend if I find the free time!
Is there a book you think could still shock you and become your favorite book of the year?

I’m a big Charlaine Harris fan and found her Gunnie Rose series to be amazing and captivating! Lizbeth is one of my Top 10 female characters of all time, so I have reservations with this new release since the story takes place from her sister’s point of view. Felicia wasn’t a character that I’d grown particularly fond of but if I start reading this and find out that I like the book, I’ll be pleasantly surprised!
Have you already started making reading plans for 2023?
I have a few goals right now, with a more robust plan closer to January. But, either way they’ll depend on the amount of free time I’ll have thanks to classes.
The big ones:

- Finish the Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher. I’m on book #12.
- Finish The Nicci Chronicles series by Terry Goodkind. I’m on book #3.
- Finish my HP Lovecraft complete works book. I’m about 25% done.
- Make a real effort to get through my 2023 TBR Owned Shelf. This will be a post of itself in January. 🙂
