Welcome to Top 10 Tuesday! This week’s topic is Favorite Words. I have a lot of favorite words but I want to keep this mostly book related so I’m going to provide my Top 10 Favorite (Strings of) Words. I’ll share ten of my all time favorite quotes from the books I love most. Special thanks to @ThatArtsyReaderGirl who hosts TTT.
Favorite Words (in Quote Form)

“So yes, I, Adolin Kholin – cousin to the king, heir to the Kholin princedom – have shat myself in my Shardplate. Three times, all on purpose.”
Brandon Sanderson, Words of Radiance

“The Captain of HMS Terror often thought that he knew nothing about the future – other than that his ship and Erebus would never again steam or sail – but then he reminded himself of one certainty: when his store of whiskey was gone, Francis Rawdon Moira Crozier was going to blow his brains out.”
Dan Simmons, The Terror

“She’d laughed, and if he could have bottled the sound and gotten drunk on it every night, he would have. It terrified him.”
Leigh Bardugo, Six of Crows

“It was always the last thing she said to him. The moment before he apparated away, as he stood in his Death Eater robes, she’d say it rather than goodbye. She’d catch his chin in her hand and stare up into his eyes.
SenLinYu, Manacled
“Be careful. Don’t die.”
Note on this one: While technically it’s not a published book, it is one of my favorite stories of all time. Imagine Handmaiden’s Tale meets Harry Potter only Harry Potter didn’t win the war – he died, and Voldemort now runs the wizarding world. It’s a dark, dark romance that doesn’t really have a happily-ever-after. It’s tragic, heartbreaking, and dreadfully sad, but worth the read.

“Everything you’ve done, your past, it’s all just a story you tell yourself. Some of it is true, but some of it is lies.”
Rebecca Roanhorse, Trail of Lightning

“This must be Thursday,’ said Arthur to himself, sinking low over his beer. ‘I never could get the hang of Thursdays.”
Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

“After all, it’s actually relatively easy to drive a Formula One car. Throttle, Green, Green, Amber. Change. Brake, turn the wheel, point it at a corner, accelerate. Simple. It’s like an arcade game. The challenge is doing it faster than everybody else without losing control. That is an entirely different level.”
Adrian Newey, How To Build A Car

“But it was too late for another effort then. For that time it was his destiny to die, or, as some say, to be carried off to Avilion, where he could wait for better days. For that time it was Lancelot’s fate and Guenever’s to take the tonsure and the veil, while Mordred must be slain. The fate of this man or that man was less than a drop, although it was a sparkling one, in the great blue motion of the sunlit sea.
T.H. White, The Once and Future King
The cannons of his adversary were thundering in the tattered morning when the Majesty of England drew himself up to meet the future with a peaceful heart. “

“Come on,” I said, taking his hand. Clutching the afghan with the other hand, he trailed down the hall after me, a snow white giant in tiny red underwear.”
Charlaine Harris, Dead to the World

“Celia, wait,” Marco says, standing but not moving closer to her. “You are breaking my heart. You told me once that I reminded you of your father. That you never wanted to suffer the way your mother did for him, but you are doing exactly that to me. You keep leaving me. You leave me longing for you again and again when I would give anything for you to stay, and it is killing me.”
Erin Morgenstern, The Night Circus
“It has to kill one of us,” Celia says quietly.”
