Murderbot #2
Muderbot has ventured out solo and sets off to find out what really happened in its past. Pretending to be an augmented human, it takes on a contract of its own for the first time, providing security for a team who had its work stolen. The team attempts to get its stuff back from a dangerous third party and Murderbot attempts to keep everyone alive. With the help of a new friend, Murderbot does its best to go unnoticed, but will all its secrets come crashing down around it anyways?
I loved the second book way more than the first. In Artificial Condition, we get to see more of who Murderbot really is and let me just say that Murderbot is AWESOME. There’s danger, a couple of murder attempts, mysteries that lead to more mysteries, an unusually free thinking ComfortBot, and a transport AI with such a great personality that drives Murderbot to annoyance. The human characters are also interesting but not as much as the AI are.
With Murderbot on the run and trying to lay low, this series is setting up to be a real big adventure with lots of surprises. It’ll be interesting to see where it all leads and as the books get longer later in the series, I’m looking forward to the potential it brings.
I gave this book 5 out of 5. I highly recommend this series, even if you’re not totally into Science Fiction. It’s charming, exciting, funny, and surprisingly human.
