#2 in the Sookie Stackhouse series
Continuing on with my re-read reviews… Sookie heads to Dallas on a vampire job and finds herself in a whole mess of trouble. Meanwhile back home, an unusual murder has taken place and its not clear who is to blame, so upon returning home from her scary Dallas trip, Sookie attempts to investigate and again finds herself in too deep, but this time she’s got the vampire Eric at her side.
A lot happens in this book. It starts with a murder, there’s a maenad attack, a bunch of vampires, lots of death, and some emotional confusion for dear Sookie about her vampire relationships. I love the way that Charlaine Harris takes two very different storylines and makes them flow together so well. It’s a treat to read!
I enjoy reading about Sookie learning of all the supernatural stuff that goes on around humans (that they don’t even know about). It’s introduced a little bit at a time, book by book, so there’s no getting overwhelmed or losing track of the significance of each new creature or thing.
I gave this book 5 out of 5. Highly recommend if you love urban fantasy and steamy-but-not-soft romance.
