This day in 2022, I was reading:
Audiobook: Dead and Gone– By Charlaine Harris
Book #9 in the Sookie Stackhouse series. I was really into a re-read of the series at this point and flying through the books.
I rated it 5 out of 5 stars on Goodreads.
This day in 2022, I was also reading:
Physical: Love in a Time of the Zombie Apocalypse – By Rizzle
Okay, yes, I sometimes read fanfic on Archive of Our Own. I thought this would be pretty good because I totally ship Draco + Hermione and it has zombies… but this was a complete let down. First off, they aren’t able to use their magic for like 99% of the story because the writer is bad at managing the power of magic and decided to just remove that hurdle completely instead of using it to make her story better. Secondly, it turned into some weird ass HP porn at the end. Like, really really unexpected weirdly written stuff that makes no sense in the story. It’s like the writer decided that she’d just rather write fanfic smut and so she did by completely jumping off the deep end, basically ruining anything remotely good about her crappy 300k+ word story that could have (and should have) been better given the premise. Overall: waste of time to read. Honestly, it was my most hated read of 2022, but I still gave it 2 out of 5 stars because the beginning (1/5 of the book) was alright at first.
Fast Forward To Today: I’m picking at Network Effect by Martha Wells (book #5 of Murderbot) and looking for which audiobook to listen to next. I finished The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood last night and maybe I will go with another romance novel (my daughter keeps pushing Colleen Hoover on me)… but Dresden is also calling to me, so we’ll just have to see where the day takes me!
