This week’s Book Blogger Hop prompt for Feb 3rd – Feb 9th is:

“What was your favorite genre to read as a child?”

Do you still read that genre, or do you read something else now? 

Answer: I’m going to say that it was an equal split between Fantasy and Horror. And, my reading experience as a child is probably the same as a million other young readers of the 90s.

I was the right age when Goosebumps first came out so I was easily obsessed with them after finding my first at the school book fair (in 1992 I think).

I was also the right age for Harry Potter when it released in the US. It quickly became my favorite fantasy world and I would go on to read those books over and over in the following 20 years.

When I turned 12, I moved on to reading Stephen King and VC Andrews. They were both shocking and captivating for a young reader. Who knows why my parents let me read those…

As for today, I still love both Fantasy and Horror stories but my reading has broadened to include all kinds of other books. To me, it’s more about the story and the world, than it is about the genre itself.
