First Line Friday – February 17th, 2023

First Line Friday is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?

The Rules:

Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first.
Finally… reveal the book!

These were the words that got me down the subway steps. I was going to Ursula’s book party, and if Wren was there, too, well, she could just go fuck herself.

Debut thriller by Julia Bartz.

Sapphic thriller about a writer’s retreat. I haven’t looked at it very closely and the first few lines are a bit off putting, if I’m being honest, but I will give it a go once I’m done with the Leigh Bardugo books I’m currently on.
