Welcome to WWW Wednesday! It was originally hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm but is now run by Taking On A World Of Words.
WWW Wednesday is simple, just answer 3 questions about reading:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
You can post a link to your blog on Taking On A World of Word’s blog post for the week so other readers can see what you’re working on, and check out your blog!
What are you currently reading?
Audiobook:
I’m determined to finish Peace Talks by Jim Butcher today (it’s due back to the library tomorrow!). I don’t really enjoy the return to the “White Counsel is upset at Dresden again” plot line but the stuff going on with Thomas is intriguing. Plus, there’s been some Butters & Lady of Winter Molly on the scene which makes things more palatable.
Physical:
Still working on The Road to Neverwinter by Jaleigh Johnson. I’m really in love with this story! It’s everything I hoped and more with all the cozy found-family vibes and hilariously typical D&D situations (including all the bad rolls!). I’ll probably finish this one tonight as well, only 70 pages to go!
What did you recently finish reading?
I’ve been real light on the reading at night due to studying all week for end of term exams and work has been ultra busy so I haven’t had any dedicated time to listen to stories while on the clock. Hopefully I get a return to normalcy in April!
This week, I finished only one book:
Artemis by Andy Weir – I found it to be a really good attempt at writing not only a young female MC with grey morals, but one from a middle-east culture. I don’t think that writing females is Weir’s strong point but he did respect her character as a woman and I appreciated that he didn’t overly sexualize her like so many other male writers do in the science fiction/fantasy world do. The on the surface, the story was interesting but the science involved was a bit toned down for a Weir book (although what was there was pretty accurate), but overall the book was basically average. I’m of the opinion he tried writing this before The Martian and released it as a filler while he was working on Project Hail Mary. The difference in writing is so apparent that it makes no sense to think that he regressed from The Martian to do Artemis but then magically put out the marvelous creation of PHM afterwards.
What do you think you’ll read next?
My TBR for March:
Hell Bent by Leigh Bardugo – Physical – I am moving this one to April. It’s too thick to get through this month and I’d like to make sure I can focus on it because I’m super invested in this story.
As for what to read until the 28th, I’m not yet sure! I think I’ll take a trip to the bookstore tomorrow and grab something new!
A House with Good Bones by T. Kingfisher releases on the 28th so I plan to fly through that one before April starts!
That’s all I’ve got for WWW Wednesday. Thanks for stopping by!
