I forgot to do a Reading Plan in March… whoops. It’s okay though because there wasn’t much going on in the realm of book releases I wanted to check out. However, April is jam-packed with exciting new releases that I can’t wait to get my greedy little hands on so it’ll be a busy month!
The TBR List

I started A House with Good Bones by T. Kingfisher just a couple days before April began. It’ll be the first finished this month and let me tell you what… it’s been an excellent story! Well worth the anticipation for it’s release. If you’re looking for a weird horror story that has good Southern Gothic vibes, then check this one out! It’s got paranormal happenings, bugs, vultures, weird family history stuff, and odd but charming neighbors. It even addresses the elephant in the room that tends to come with any true Southern story: racism. Great read, can’t wait to finish it!

This has been on my TBR for a couple months now. Hell Bent by Leigh Bardugo is an intimidating size and I’m determined to read a physical copy so I haven’t had the pull to pick it up with so many other shorter releases happening. I’m going to push for it in April and try to get it done quickly… I don’t think I’ll have any issues with that since I’m totally invested in the Alex-Stern-Saves-Darlington situation.

The most anticipated book of the last 10 years??? Quite possibly. Lassiter by JR Ward is a long-awaited installment of The Black Dagger Brotherhood that fans have been waiting nearly an entire lifetime for. Everyone’s favorite fallen angel might get a happily ever after?? BIG MAYBE. Ward has hurt us all before with tragic endings and I sincerely hope that’s not the case in this one, but if we’re being honest, I totally thrive on those kinds of romance novels. Bring it on!

I can’t even explain why but I am completely addicted to these messed up books. How can a book from a total psychopath’s POV be so wonderfully captivating? You and Only You by Caroline Kepnes is the 4th in the series and I can’t wait to see how Joe continues to grow. I have lots of thoughts – all of them filled with spoilers – so I’ll just say this: Caroline Kepnes you terrible but wonderful person, I would love to get inside your head for even just a moment to see what makes you tick.

I’m a long time fan of this series from before Anne took over writing her father’s stories. The Way of the Bear by Anne Hillerman promises to address a few long standing storylines and I’m excited to get my ears on the audiobook. It’s a wonderful mystery series I think everyone should try.

A true story about shipwrecks, mutiny, and murder! I found that I completely love stories about old sailing days and this one is actually non-fiction so I can’t wait to devour it. It shows a lot of promise and I haven’t heard of the story before so I’ll be buying The Wager by David Grann as soon as it releases.

I believe that From the Grave by Kresley Cole is the last in the Arcana Chronicles series. I started this one when I was much, much younger (over a decade ago…) and I tend to stray away from most YA books these days, but I want to find out what happens. In a perfect world, Deveaux and Aric would ditch Evie and go off to live a happy bromance somewhere far away from her drama factory personality.

I don’t know much about this one, and I have not ever heard of the author before. Ascension by Nicholas Binge is a speculative fiction novel about a mountain that appears in the ocean, literally out of nowhere and very suddenly. Like spontaneous existence quick. A group goes to do research (aka climb the mountain), and discover that some kind of scary creature lives on it? Either way, it sounds right up my alley so I’m all for it.
Update: I found out after posting today that his book is narrated by Peter Kenny, who does The Witcher series audiobooks… and who I completely adore as a narrator. I’ll be picking this one up on Audible!
Overall, I have a good looking month ahead of me. It’ll be a good mix of audiobooks & physical copies, so I’ll just need to balance my school work with evening reading (and refrain from binging my books on weekends instead of studying). I’ll also continue listening to the Mercy Thompson series, and I’d like to try to fit in Battle Ground by Jim Butcher if I can. Busy busy busy!
What are you looking to pick up this month? Any long awaited titles finally releasing for you? And, if you have any recommendations you think I’d enjoy, send them my way! You can also friend me on Goodreads 🙂
Happy reading!
